Charles sobhraj first wife juliette11/24/2023 ![]() It was the same time when he met Chantel Compagnon. After he was paroled, he went on to accompany Felix, juggling between high society life in Paris (introduced by Felix) and the Parisian underworld (committing a series of burglaries and scams). ![]() Around the same time, he met and got close to a young man and prison volunteer named Felix d’Escogne. While being in prison, Charles manipulated prison officials into granting him special favors such as keeping books in his cell. He received his first jail sentence for burglary in 1963 he served at Poissy prison near Paris. In one of his early crimes, he induced his half-brother to rob a shopkeeper. In his teenage, Charles Sobhraj began committing small crimes. Upon his release from prison after eight months, he got married to Compagnon. Charles proposed Compagnon to marriage but was arrested on the same day. He broke up with Desnoyers to marry Compagnon. In 1969, he met Chantal Compagnon, a young Parisian woman with a conservative background. In 1964, Chantal Desnoyers and Charles became parents to their first child, a boy named Pranck. When he was a teenager, he met Chantal Desnoyers in Paris. Charles was abandoned by his family after he was sent to prison in Poissy. ![]() Andre was arrested in Greece after an identity switch hoax went wrong. His younger half-brother, André, became his partner in crime later in Turkey and Greece. Later, after his mother and adoptive father had children, Charles found himself being neglected by his parents. Darreau did not give his name to Charles but was a very kind father to him. After his parents separated, he was adopted by his mother’s boyfriend, Lieutenant Alphonse Darreau, an officer in the French army in French Indochina. His mother’s name is Tran Loang Phun/Song, who was a bar hostess and shop assistant. His father’s name is Sobhraj Hatchard Bavani, who was an Indian tailor, moneylender, and owner of two tailoring shops. He was renamed as ‘Charles Gurmukh Sobhraj’ in the church records. He took the name Charles after he was baptized as a Catholic as a teenager. If he was present in school, he was a discipline problem for his teachers. He was always absent from his school due to which his grades suffered. He did his schooling at a French boarding school. He continued to move back and forth in Indochina and France. He was adopted by his mother’s boyfriend in French Indochina. He also wrote a letter to Nadine and Remi, thanking them for their help and fulfilling his promise to pay them back for the plane ticket they purchased him.After his parents got separated, he became stateless. The last viewers see of Dominique, he was crying in his parents' arms when he arrived safely in France. Nevertheless, Dominique Rennelleau was unfortunate to meet Sobhraj and lucky to return to France alive. Whether these exact events happened in real life remains unknown as the series is a dramatisation of true events and all dialogue is imagined. Thankfully, Dominique was able to escape the clutches of Alain and a safe return to France. Nadine and Remi purchased him an aeroplane ticket and helped him to reconstruct his own passport, which had been used illegally by Alain. He also noticed many items in the apartment belonged to missing travellers.ĭuring Monique, Alain and Ajay Chowdhury's (Amesh Edireweera) Christmas trip to Nepal, Dominique was able to enlist the help of neighbours Nadine (Mathilde Warner) and Remi Gires (Grégoire Isvarine) who helped him escape. ![]() In The Serpent, Dominique witnessed lifeless bodies being dragged from the apartment building and eventually matched the passports found in Alain's safe to deceased travellers. He also began to suspect he had been drugged by Alain and many of the other travellers. ![]()
